All SPP members receive an annual statement from the Plan. This statement provides important information about your pension benefits, and we encourage you to review it annually. Active and deferred members typically receive their annual statement every May. Pensioners would have just received their 2025 statement in December.
Did you know that pension legislation requires us to mail you a paper annual statement, unless you make the switch to receive only electronic statements in myPension?
How do I switch to electronic?
It’s easy — simply sign in to myPension, select the Communication Preferences tab, and then beside Annual Statement, select Electronic. Scroll to the bottom of the page to save your changes.
Benefits of receiving electronic statements
There are many reasons why more and more members are choosing to go paperless:
-
- Security. myPension requires UBC Campus-Wide Login (CWL) which helps keep your personal information safe.
- Convenience. If you are connected to the internet, you can access your pension information on your schedule, wherever you may happen to be. This may be particularly relevant if you have a hybrid or remote work arrangement, if you move frequently, or if you live in different locations during different times of the year.
- Sustainability. Choosing to receive an electronic statement minimizes the environmental impact and administrative costs of producing and sending paper mail.
- Speed. Those who receive electronic statements will have access to their statement faster than those who are waiting for a paper statement to arrive.
- Choice. You can still print a copy of your statement from myPension if your needs change.
