We are pleased to announce that Barry Gros has been appointed by the UBC Board of Governors to serve as Independent Chair on the Staff Pension Plan (SPP) Board for a two-year term effective February 15, 2016 to December 31, 2017. Mr. Gros was previously a University Appointed member of the SPP Board. Mr. Gros is an actuary with 35 years’ experience in the pension industry and is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries since 1982.
In addition, the UBC Board of Governors has appointed Laura O’Neill to serve as a University Appointed member on the SPP Board for a four-year term effective February 15, 2016 to December 31, 2019. Ms. O’Neill is a lawyer with experience in pension plan governance and investments. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada since 1996, a Chartered Financial Analyst since 2001, and holds her Bachelors of Law from Queen’s University in 1994. Ms. O’Neill is employed by the BCGEU, is a Trustee and Secretary of the BCGEU Pension Plan Board, and is a member of the BC College Pension Plan’s Partner’s Committee.
