New Pension Board Member

May 17, 2017

Introducing Michal Jaworski

Photo: Gabriel Lascu

Michal is the newest member to join the SPP Board. We asked Michal about his past experience and what he looks forward to in his new role on the Pension Board.

QUESTION: What experience do you bring to the SPP Board?

MICHAL: I have spent the past 11 years working as a business lawyer, which gives me a very good understanding of the law (obviously), and the ability to take in a lot of information, and present analysis, issues and proposed resolutions clearly and concisely. Also, I’ve worked extensively with UBC for many of those 11 years, giving me a very good sense of the culture, complexity and direction of UBC.

QUESTION: What are you looking forward to in your role on the SPP Board?

MICHAL: Two things: learning, and making a positive contribution. I know that I will learn a great deal from my fellow Board members, the SPP staff and our consultants. I also look forward to having the opportunity to make a real contribution, and a positive impact, which I will know I’ve made if I can contribute to solving problems, finding common ground on difficult issues, and contributing to clear and respectful communication with Board members, staff, and members.
