We are pleased to share the results of the recent Staff Pension Plan (SPP) Board election and by-election, held in Fall 2024. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who participated, including the nominated candidates and all SPP members who took the time to vote.
In the election for two candidates to serve four-year terms from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2028, SPP members have re-elected Michael Guimond (first elected in 2023) and elected Teresa Tsang who will begin their first term on the Board. Michael is the Director of Finance in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences Dean’s Office, and Teresa is the Associate Registrar and Director of Finance at Enrolment Services.
In the by-election for one candidate to serve a two-year term from January 1, 2025 until December 31, 2026, SPP members have elected (John) Graham McIntosh to his second Board term. His first term was an interim appointment that began in mid-2024. Now retired, Graham was most recently the Executive Director of both the Diploma in Accounting Program and the Continuing Business Studies unit at the Sauder School of Business.
The term for current Board member Paul Kwon (Finance Manager, UBC Hiring Solutions, first elected in 2021) will end on December 31, 2024. The SPP Board and the UBC Pension Administration Office management and staff would like to thank Paul for his contributions to the SPP and its membership.
