A power of attorney is a legal document you sign when you want to give someone you trust the authority to manage your money and property on your behalf. You are not required to appoint a power of attorney. However it is a good idea to have a power of attorney or enduring power of attorney in case you become unable to manage your own finances. If you have a power of attorney looking after your financial affairs, it is important to keep your power of attorney information up to date with the UBC Pension Administration Office. This includes notifying our office if you have changed or revoked a power of attorney. Please contact us by email at spp@hr.ubc.ca.
