Go Paperless: Switch to an Electronic Annual Statement

Each year, you will receive an annual statement from the UBC Staff Pension Plan. This statement provides key information about your pension benefits, and we encourage you to review it annually. The 2023 Annual Statements for Active and Deferred members will be available in May, and the 2024 Annual Statements for Pensioners will be available in December.

You can choose to receive an electronic statement or a paper statement: the UBC Pension Administration Office is required to send you a paper annual statement, unless you switch to electronic statements through myPension. Here are a few reasons why more and more SPP members are going paperless and switching to electronic:

  • Faster and more convenient delivery (compared to waiting for paper mail to your office, or if you have a hybrid work arrangement, you might not be on campus as often)
  • UBC Campus-Wide Login (CWL) keeps your personal information safer
  • Available 24/7 in myPension
  • You can still print a copy of your statement from myPension if your needs change
  • Less environmental impact than producing paper mail
  • Less administrative costs, which helps to keep more money in the SPP

Switching to electronic is easy. Simply sign in to myPension with your CWL, select Communication Preferences, and then beside Annual Statement, select Electronic and save your changes.
